We are proud to nominate Lesley Mellor for IMPOWER’s Heroes of 2025 Awards. Lesley is the Lead for the Dorset Parent Carer Council, and she has demonstrated exceptional leadership, empathy, and commitment to improving the experiences and outcomes of children and families across Dorset.

Lesley has consistently championed the voices of parents and carers, modelling a culture of listening, respect, and genuine partnership. Earlier this year, she played a pivotal role in our High Needs Shared Learning Event, sharing powerful insights about the SEND system and offering practical advice to Directors of Children’s Services and local areas on how to meaningfully engage with families. Her contribution inspired open, honest dialogue and encouraged leaders to think differently about co-production.

Lesley has also been deeply engaged in our Valuing SEND work, acting as a trusted thought partner and advocate. Her insight and strategic thinking have helped shape ideas that make a tangible difference to families in Dorset and beyond.
