Applied Analytics Practice
Our applied analytics team helps public sector leaders make better decisions using clear, practical evidence. We work alongside delivery teams to understand demand, capacity, cost and outcomes, translating complex data into insight that leaders can use with confidence. Our focus is not on data for its own sake, but on supporting real‑world choices that improve services, outcomes and value for money.

Alongside applied behavioural science and our EDGEWORK theory of change we use applied analytics and digital innovation to provide actionable insights. We also use AI‑enabled techniques such as natural language processing, journey mining and predictive modelling to unlock insight from complex, high‑volume public sector data – including unstructured sources such as case notes and assessments.
IMPOWER INDEX
The IMPOWER INDEX is a benchmarking tool with a difference: it grades councils on productivity, providing leaders with insight into how key services are performing compared to recognised comparator authorities.

Valuing LIVES platform
We have a range of digital products that support making better decisions, managing risk, and delivering better outcomes with partners that work with local government and the NHS. For example, our Valuing SEND tool allows multidisciplinary teams to better understand the needs of children and young people from the health perspective, and crucially from the education and care sides as well.

The Listening Tool
Uses text-based data (such as adult social care case notes) and Natural Language Processing to identify prevalent themes and trends, providing insight into how services are operating and producing compelling evidence to drive change.
Journey Mining
Provides holistic and individual views about how people move through a process (such as a hospital discharge pathway). Using logic-based analysis and artificial intelligence to convert all pathways to an easy-to-interrogate dataset and process map, it helps to understand lived experiences, the impact of this on outcomes, and identify opportunities for improvements.
Trajectory Management
Sophisticated forecasting techniques help organisations to scenario model the effect of interventions which our delivery teams have developed.
Repeatable Insights
Enables tracking of the impact of our work via live dashboards, sustaining the change we have delivered, including after our departure.
Enhanced Online Engagement
Providing client-accessible dashboards containing rich insight into both qualitative and quantitative response data, for example to establish workforce ‘change readiness’ before and during planned transformation.
Custom Generative Pre-trained Transformers (GPTs)
We regularly use AI as part of project delivery, speeding up analysis and helping with deep research, making use of our safe, walled-garden that is suitable for confidential project work.
