Place

We continue to develop our place-based offer as we help more place leaders deliver good growth. Our team comes equipped with a diverse range of skills and experience, ranging from former council chief executives, economists, and analysts to frontline social workers, teachers, healthcare professionals and ministerial advisers. 

We support place leaders in three main ways.

 1. Good Growth:The challenge for place leaders is not just to deliver growth, but to deliver growth that is inclusive, sustainable, and holistic; developing neighbourhoods that work for everyone and for the long term. We draw on our team’s multi-disciplinary expertise across many fields and deploy IMPOWER’s trademarked tools and advanced analytical capabilities, to support places to develop, finance, and deliver local programmes of good growth.

2. Housing and homelessness:We see homelessness as an issue that cuts across place, public health and social care responsibilities, requiring a sophisticated multi-agency approach. Using a number of tools and working across a number of systems we help clients gain a better understanding the demand for housing support and provision across the system and then identifying where that demand could be avoided by early intervention.

3. School travel:Over the last five years we have worked with over 10 councils identifying £22m of savings, to help them manage demand and improve outcomes with strengths based practice. We trial, evaluate and then roll out a wide range of alternative approaches to transport, including personal travel budgets and independent travel training. Core to our approach is the development of financial and demand trajectories that help our clients to understand the potential impacts of different interventions.
